How to open a second instance of Skype

This tutorial is about how to open a second instance of Skype.

How often have you wanted to open a second instance of Skype 4?
Well now I will show you a quick and easy way to do that using the Command Prompt.

First open the Command Prompt – type in “cmd” in the Search box in the Start menu and press Enter:

Note: For Windows XP Start menu -> Run, type in “cmd” and press Enter.
A new window will appear:

Type in “cd ***” where *** is the directory in which Skype 4 is installed. In our example this is “C:\\Program Files\\Skype”. So we will simply type:

Now we will go in the “Phone” subdirectory of Skype. Type “cd Phone” and press Enter:

And now for the final step. Type in “skype.exe /secondary” and the second Skype instance will open:

It should be noted that using this technique you can open as many Skype 4 instances as you like.
