Windows Movie Maker is video editing software that is included in Microsoft Windows XP operating system. It offer functionality such as transition effects, filters, audio track, timeline narration.

For this tutorial we will use default Windows Movie Maker sample videos included in Windows XP.

Now drag & drop some movie clips in story board.

Let see what we have till now:
Of course, we can use some transition between videos to insert some freshness and story concept. To insert video transition open ‘Edit Movie’ in Movie Tasks and click on View video transition. Now you can click on each transition on the right to preview the effect. When you choose it, click and hold on it and drag it to storyboard above the place between the two movies on which you want to make transition.

In Windows Movie Maker also have many video effects. To use them right click on movie in story board, next on Video Effects. Now you can selected from left list and apply on movie with Add>> button. Each effect in the right list will affect this movie. You can preview the effect by clicking on movie and next ‘Play’ on built in player.

If we want to make title at the beginning of the movie we can do that by opening ‘Edit Movie’ in Movie Tasks and clicking on ‘Make title or credits’

Now click on ‘Add title at the beginning of the movie’ like shown on the picture below.

Write same title for your movie.

Ok. We are ready. Let’s save the movie. Open ‘Finish Movie’ in Movie Tasks and click on ‘Save to my computer’.

Give name of your movie and specify where to save the movie file and click Next.

On next screen selected the compression level for your movie. On this parameter will depend the quality and size of your movie. At this step is possible to not hit the right value and will need to experiment until you are satisfied from the result.

If you don’t know which option to select leave first option â€" Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)

When ready click on finish. Your movie file is ready.
