Hello dear reader,

Looks like today is my Windows day. I will present you yet another simple configuration option for Windows 2003. I have to say that this tutorial also has been tested on Windows XP and applies for it as well. Though it one IP is absolutely enough for the common Windows user sometimes we need to have more than one IP on one Network Interface Card (NIC). One common example is that you need separate / different IP addresses for security enabled websites. I will not go into details explaining why you may need more than one IP as if you are reading it you probably know your reasons better than me.

So first we need to go to Local Area Connection properties. There are many ways to reach these setting so I assume you know at least one way to do that. if you do not know hot to get there check the first two paragraphs in this tutorial

So once you are at the screen similar to the one on the above picture proceed by going to the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties

The settings you have on the above screen probably will differ from mine but the IP address values are not relevant to the goal in this tutorial. Next we need to click on Advanced button . How to do that is show on the above picture.

On the bellow picture you can see the actual settings. Currently we have only one IP address configured. To add some more you need to click and the Add button.

Keep In mind that if you are working on a server in a network that you don't administrate personally I highly recommend that you contact the network administrator and explain to him/her what you are planning to do.

So now I assume you have obtained the IP address you need form the network administrator. Just need to enter the digits in the corresponding fields

You can repeat the last step depending on how many IPs you need more. Once you are done you have to confirm on all screens we have been to by clicking the OK button
