Like in Desktop PCs, notebooks also have a HDD ( Hard Disk Drive ). HDD is permanent power-independent memory where user can install software applications and store user files.

Sometimes, when computer is used for Video Editing Applications, for Database Servers or any other server purpose HDD space can turn out. In this case is good old HDD to be replaced with new larger and faster HDD.

In this tutorial I will show you How to Change HDD on Notebook/Laptop. In our example I will use Mitac 8258D notebook.

First power off the notebook and turn around back to front, that you can operate on backside covers.
How to Change HDD on Notebook/Laptop
Most notebooks have different covers for each important and replaceable parts. This means that you have to find the HDD cover marked with suitable symbol / icon.

When you find the cover, by using suitable screw driver unscrew all screws which attach the HDD cover to the notebook like shown on the picture below.

When you ready with previous step, lift up the HDD cover and remove it from the notebook.

Under the cover, you have to see small 2.5 inch notebook HDD, which have to be fixed with some screw. By using screw driver, unscrew this screw to set free the disk like shown on the picture below.

Next, catch the disk and carefully pull it out from HDD connector by weakly shakes like shown on the picture below.

Now you can remove the old HDD and install new one, by following the same procedure vice versa.
